I would like to make a contribution to the recent article you published on the shocking poor results at mostly rural schools in this year’s Grade 7 national examinations.
Teachers and students at most of these schools have to walk for more than 5-8 km to and fro schools.
With the current economic situation they all walk hungry with no food in their stomach.
Teachers in rural areas are not motivated at all as a result they do not make any effort for their pupils. On the other end the pupils are not fed as their families are suffering from economic hardships.
This means both teachers and students at these schools lose their concentration, and little effort is applied towards real learning.
