Andy Flower lands top job in West Indies

St Lucia Zouks, a cricket franchise in the West Indies, have welcomed former Zimbabwe cricketer Andy Flower as their new coach ahead of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) later this year.

The move comes after KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited took control of the CPL side.

They also own Indian Premier League franchise Kings XI Punjab, where Flower was installed as assistant coach over the weekend.

“I am excited to lead and coach this team,” said the ex-Zimbabwe captain, who coached England to T20 World Cup glory and No.1 in the Test rankings.

“I am a fan of the Caribbean Premier League and would love to be the coach to be associated with the team to bring victory home to the fans in St. Lucia.”

Flower is currently working with Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League, having previously guided Maratha Arabians to victory in the T10 League since leaving the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Kings XI chief executive Satish Menon added: “I am delighted to have someone of the caliber and eminence of Andy Flower; we sure look forward to a great season ahead.”

The 2020 CPL, the eighth edition of the competition, is set to get underway on August 19 and run until September 26.
