BREAKING: Botswana President in Covid-19 isolation after Namibia trip

By Staff Writer

THE Botswana Government says it has placed in isolation President Mokgweetsi Masisi and his entire entourage that accompanied him to Namibia on Saturday for the inauguration of President Hage Geingob.

The event was also attended by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, as well as Angola’s President João Lourenço.

According to the statement posted on the official Botswana social media platforms and signed by Government Communications Permanent Secretary Mr. Andrew Sesinyi, President Masisi will be in isolation from 21st March up for at least 14 days.

The statement further said Masisi took the trip to Namibia as it offered him the opportunity to “discuss critical Covid-19 measures taken in the respective countries sharing borders with the Republic of Botswana.”

It further said strict preventive protocols were observed for Masisi before departure and upon return to the country.
